How Texas Global Consulting Handled COVID-19

Beginning the year with high hopes, we could not have predicted the arrival of COVID-19. Though this pandemic forced our hand regarding adapting and shifting our work strategy, we refused to let it dampen our spirits. In a way, we are grateful for the opportunity to see our team’s strength and resilience shine. We are excited to share how we weathered through and handled this unexpected storm.

Once “stay at home” orders were put into place, we knew we had to start by simply addressing the problem. We logged on virtually through Zoom and brainstormed the best course of action together for the safety of our teammates, and the safety of others. We came to the conclusion to cease in-office company operations and take on our responsibilities remotely.

If there’s one thing to know about our team at Texas Global Consulting, it’s that we’re close, and we value one-on-one communication. Luckily, we live in the day in age where technology is prevalent and advanced enough to keep us connected. We were still able to “see” each other daily through video conferencing calls.

Very quickly, we learned that establishing a routine greatly helped create a sense of normalcy. We continued to log on daily, partake in training modules, and empower each other to invest in personal development and practice self-care — all while working remotely from home.

In lieu of our company motto, “Rapid Results. Global Growth.,” we remained dedicated to growing together as a unit. We shared our personal and professional goals with one another, read business books, listened to podcasts, watched live professional speakers, and continued to put our student mentalities into practice.

Though growth was a significant priority for our team throughout this time, it was important to us that we also kept up our lively company culture. We found group games we could play together digitally, set up “happy hours,” and spent time catching up.

Lastly, we converted our entire interviewing/hiring process to a digital platform, ensuring that we could still onboard some of San Antonio’s best talent without compromising anyone’s well-being in the process. Between virtual interview videos, PowerPoint presentations, and an online training portal, our commitment to career growth still held true.

COVID-19 may have taken us by surprise, but we refused to let it be our demise.Here’s to learning to adjust in challenging situations, persevering as a group, and coming out on the other side with great strength.
